VirtualBarter is proud to announce the addition of eleven new exchanges in our community this month, enhancing collaboration and trade opportunities in Salt Lake City, Sacramento, and throughout the South East United States in addition to Australia, and Vietnam.
New vBarter software features
> New member management screen view launching soon!
You can check out the beta version still being tweaked and enhanced by clicking on "New Version" on the manage member's page.
> Add up to 6 images!
When listing a new item, a member can now add up to 6 images for each item, as well as view thumbnails of uploaded images.
> New setting on the Exchange Details page!
When enabled, this setting hides new item listings from displaying in the marketplace until the item is approved by an exchange administrator.
> Tabs added to marketplace!
Exchanges with custom content managed websites can now have tabs added to their marketplace so that members can toggle between New Offers, Featured Listings and Special Offers. This enhancement is available for free for Enterprise level subscriptions and above, but requires a one time small installation investment. If interested, let us know. click here
> New Login capabilities!
Login name can now be an email address up to 24 alphanumeric characters.
> New way to add item categories!
We made it easier to find categories when adding new item listings to the marketplace. Category selection is still grouped, but you can also type a few letters to search for categories.
> A better Item Manager!
In the Item Manager, you can now view the complete short description and the seller's name. You can also click on the column headers to resort the data. A "View All" button has also been added so that you can view all items on one page.

Bruce's banter
Many years ago when I had an exchange in NYC, we used purchase orders to create a sense of urgency for a business to join the exchange.
When we visited with prospects, we often showed them the purchase order that we had from an exchange member wanting to purchase their product or service. The purchase order listed their business as a potential supplier, but the names of their two competitors as well.
If the business couldn't make a commitment to join the exchange, open an account and accept payment for the product or service in trade, we indicated that we needed to fulfill the request, and would be offering the new business from a new customer to one of the other companies on the purchase order.
It worked almost every time, and not only did it get a new member, but it also facilitated a significant trade and satisfied a member's request.
Purchase Orders work so well to get new members as well as increase trade velocity, that we added Purchase Orders to vBarter software last year.
When a member adds a Want Listing for something they want to purchase, they have the option of checking the Purchase Order box and then adding the names and contact details of companies they would like to do business with.The exchange gets a copy of the PO, which they then use to sign up a new member, complete a trade, and satisfy the member's request.
Be sure to promote the Purchase Orders feature to your members. You'll be surprised at how many leads it will generate for new members, as well as make it an easy decision for them to join your exchange.
